Terms of service

1. What Zoteni is

Zoteni is a digital commerce discovery platform, operated by Zotify Limited(Co. No. PVT-MA17D6OJ), Nairobi, Kenya, that connects people with businesses, products and services. Our mission is making African commerce easier to discover, access and navigate; while we are pre-launch, our operations are in Kenya. Shoppers can discover, compare and buy from businesses; businesses can claim a listing, publish a storefront and take orders. These terms govern your use of the website and the services offered on it.

2. Using Zoteni

You agree to use Zoteni lawfully and honestly: no fake listings, no scraped or stolen catalogue data, no attempts to harm or overload the service, and no misrepresentation of who you are. Businesses are responsible for the accuracy of their listings, prices and stock. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules or the law.

3. Orders and requests

Placing an order or a "request to buy" is an offer to do business with the seller, not a guaranteed contract - the seller confirms, and the contract of sale is between you and the seller. Zoteni is not the seller. On shops that have not joined Zoteni, your request is forwarded only after the shop confirms its identity, and your contact details stay private until then. Payments: where Zoteni facilitates checkout, payment goes to the seller through the provider shown at checkout - Zoteni does not hold your money.

4. Honest listings

We mark every shop truthfully (discovered, claimed, verified) and show no reviews or ratings until real ones exist. Businesses must not present information as verified, endorsed or rated unless Zoteni has actually done so. Prices and stock shown are supplied by the seller; where a price has changed, the price at the seller at the time of sale prevails.

5. Intellectual property

The Zoteni name, wordmark and site design belong to us. You keep the rights to the content you provide (your listings, photos, descriptions) and grant us the licence needed to display and promote it on the platform. Do not use Zoteni content to build a competing directory without permission.

6. Availability and liability

We work to keep Zoteni available and accurate, but the service is provided "as is"; we do not promise uninterrupted availability. To the extent the law allows, Zoteni is not liable for indirect losses arising from use of the platform. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by Kenyan law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory consumer rights.

7. Disputes and takedowns

If something is wrong - a listing that shouldn't be here, content that infringes your rights, a order problem - tell us at hello@zoteni.com (or through the report link on any listing) and we will investigate and act, including removing content and suspending accounts where warranted. We honour lawful takedown requests.

8. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms as the service grows; the current version always lives at this address. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya have jurisdiction over disputes arising from them.
